About

A small waterfront preserve with nature trails winding through three distinct ecosystems along the Wild and Scenic Loxahatchee River. Kids can spot gopher tortoises, ospreys, and manatees while exploring scrubby flatwoods, oak hammocks, and mangrove swamps on well-marked earth paths. Great for families looking to explore native Florida habitats without a big time commitment. The trails are short and lead to small beaches along the water where kids can get close to mangroves and spot wildlife. No designated parking but you can park roadside.

Jackson Riverfront Pines is a gorgeous 3-acre natural area right on the river in Jupiter where kids can explore one of Florida's designated Wild and Scenic Rivers—it's the kind of place where your child can actually get outside and experience nature without it feeling like a field trip. The area is open from sunrise to sunset every single day of the year, so you've got tons of flexibility to visit whenever works for your family. You can walk the shoreline, look for wildlife, and really get a feel for what a healthy Florida ecosystem looks like, which is pretty special. The program is run by Palm Beach County's Environmental Resources Management team, and while pricing varies depending on what activities you choose, it's a free place to explore if you just want to walk around and enjoy the trails.
