About

A 772-acre natural area with four sandy trails ranging from 850 feet to 2.4 miles, plus a short paved trail leading to an observation platform over wetlands. Kids can spot gopher tortoises, sandhill cranes, and various birds while hiking through pine flatwoods and marshes. Good for families wanting a nature walk close to neighborhoods but feeling more secluded. The paved Blue Heron Trail works for strollers and leads to a covered pavilion with benches. The area stays surprisingly quiet with few visitors, and trail maps are available at the parking area kiosk.

  • Royal Palm Beach Pines Natural Area Program

    Class
    · Variable

Royal Palm Beach Pines Natural Area is a beautiful spot to get kids outdoors and exploring Florida's natural environment, with trails open from sunrise to sunset where families can hike, bike, and discover local wildlife and ecosystems. The natural area has two convenient entrances—one at 110 Nature's Way and another at 13500 40th Street—so you can pick whichever works best for your family. This was actually the first natural area in Palm Beach County that voters approved funding to protect, so it's a special place that the whole community fought to preserve. For specific details about guided programs, age recommendations, and any activity costs, you'll want to check with Palm Beach County's Environmental Resources Management department directly, but the open trails themselves are accessible from sunrise to sunset.
